Testimonials

Just in case you haven't heard this enough . . . You. Are. A.Maaaaaaaaaz.Ing.

I can't tell you how different everyday life is, I had no idea the extent of how generally uncomfortable I have been for quite some time now.  I can move freely without random hitches and pops and pains.  I didn't even realize how many of my actions/inactions were dictated by trying to not feel/aggravate those hitches.   I have felt like an old lady for awhile, and frustrated about it because, well, I'm not an old lady yet. :)  The guy who manages my local grocery store wondered what had happened, the change in my carriage was so noticeable.

Anyway,  THANK YOU!

Jennifer Mitchell, Teacher

There's one thing I can expect from every session with David: transformative results. I came to see him because I had injured my leg while training for the NYC marathon. I was almost ready to drop out. I had seen a doctor-recommended physical therapist three times with no results. After only one session with David, I was running again. It was amazing. David has the knowledge of an anatomy professor, the focus of a surgeon and the serenity of a monk!

David Adams, Marathon Runner

David has crafted a hybrid set of techniques complex enough to actually deal with all the messy, mechanical things that happen to muscles and tendons when they are injured or healing improperly. Pat or generalized diagnoses are set aside, and these messy and particular circumstances become central to some very skilled detective work. Muscles are untangled. Movement is restored. Posture and bearing are adjusted. The work is relaxing and engaging, and it feels really great.

David has solved problems that no one else could solve for me and for every friend that I have recommended.

My Focused Voice Session with David has had a profound effect on my singing. Before my first session, I had been struggling with recording a high vocal. After our session, I was able to record it with complete ease. I was able to sing much higher than usual (up to an Ab which is thrilling for this alto!), and felt a fantastic new sense of freedom in my voice that has continued even until now, more than a month later. David's intense work addressed the source of the tension (not just the peripheral, outer muscles), starting with my abdomen area and a loosening of rib tension, and finishing with a gentle massage behind the voice box itself! Our sessions are not only physical experiences, but intellectual ones as well that extend into my daily vocal practice and teaching. David's kind and highly detailed explanations of the body and what he's doing give me a new understanding of myself and my anatomy. Specifically, his visual description of the diaphragm and how it moves with the breath helps me literally every day. I honestly didn't know that this kind of focused massage work was possible, and I'm so glad to have found David.

David is an excellent massage therapist. He has really impressed me with his knowledge of anatomy and how the body functions. I also like that he incorporates different techniques depending on the client and the problem at hand. I have been to David myself and have also referred several patients to him, all of whom thought he was terrific. I would particularly recommend him for people with stubborn or difficult to treat problems.

Cindy Goodman, Chiropractor

David has worked with me post-partum for two pregnancies and in between. He has worked with my back pain, knee pain and neck pain. If he is unable to relieve the pain, he will assess it and give a reccommendation for additional work from another care provider (chiropractic, PT, etc.). He is excellent at listening to the various things that may have caused the pain and gives great exercises to follow up the work that he has done to manage it. I have sent many people to him. David...relieving the stress of New Yorkers, one person at a time.

David is an excellent therapist.  I'm also a massage therapist and I'm very picky about receiving bodywork. He's the best!

Sarah Austin, Licensed Massage Therapist

I was referred to David by a friend, and I can't thank her enough. David begins every session with a discussion about what area of the body needs the most attention, and then tailors his approach based on his detailed knowledge of anatomy and various massage styles. Each session is completely individualized, and his ability to heal a range of ailments with his hands is remarkable. I recommend him unequivocally.

I came to David with a shoulder issue that wouldn't go away. I had been to physical therapy for months and it still bothered me. After an just hour with David my shoulder was about 75 percent better. He really took his time with me and found the actual point of pain. He really worked it out of my body. I would recommend David to anyone that asked.

As a teacher of the Alexander Technique, I have high standards for anyone who touches my body. David's work meets my needs for sensitivity, gentleness, and kindness. I look forward eagerly to every session with him...and enjoy the profound results long after I get off his table.

I've been playing guitar since I was 14. In my early 20's I wound up with carpal tunnel syndrome from over practicing.
Over the years, I learned to play with pain and considered it something I just had to live with.
I started to lose interest in playing more than I had to because of it.
After seeing David regularly for 2 months, (and at various intervals after that) I no longer have to live with pain to play my instrument.
I've been playing more than ever and enjoying the time shared with my first love.
All better!
Thanks David!

David's massages are a dream! He provides an experience that is both therapeutic and indulgent. Slowly and carefully working deeply into sore, overworked, and misaligned muscles, David's skilled hands offer the benefits of a meticulous deep tissue massage without the pain that often accompanies such work. One arises from his massages as if from a deep sleep...restored, energized, balanced, and pampered. As a dancer and personal trainer, I recommend his massages to anyone looking for optimal physical performance!

After a career of deskwork plus poor posture, I experience occasional pain and discomfort in my neck, shoulders, and back. I have been seeing David weekly for several months and plan to continue indefinitely. I always feel better after a session and am making progress on posture issues with his guidance. I’m 77.

Currently, I am training for the Seagull Century, a one-day100-mile bike ride. My training involves varying rides: hill climbing, wind sprints, long distance (over 50 miles). It is important for me to improve condition without injuring my body. My weekly sessions iron out the stresses I incur and keep me pedaling 6 days a week. It helps that he is a cyclist, too.

I am constantly amazed at David’s diagnostic ability. For instance, when I bought my new bike, I noticed that on the upstroke my left knee occasionally grazed my left hand. Naturally, I assumed the handlebars were out of adjustment. Not so. My left knee wobbled to the outside on the upstroke. I began teaching it to stay straight. My concentration rarely lasted a minute.

A day after David worked especially vigorously on my legs, I rode my bike. As I crested a hill and began sprinting, I looked down and noticed that both knees were staying in line with my feet. My pistons were pounding away. Whatever David released in one session, improved my pedaling enormously. Even my average speed has increased!

David is extremely knowledgeable in his field. I've already seen results from the work he's done on me, and as a marathon runner, this is so important. He cares about the well-being of his clients, and is committed to improving their quality of life. He's friendly and professional, and I recommend him to all of my friends and colleagues.
