What to Expect

For your first session I'll ask you to fill out a form with basic personal and medical intake information. You can save a bit of time by downloading the form below, filling it out, and bringing it with you to the session. Next, we'll talk over any particular issues you are having, make an assessment of your posture, and look at how you use your body throughout a typical day. Then, we'll set a goal and a focus for the session and begin work on the table.

The patterns that are causing your tension, pain, or discomfort may have their sources in repetitive stress, poor ergonomics in the workspace, new or old injuries, emotional traumas, or energy imbalances. Since these patterns can be quite asymmetrical, my treatments are often performed in an asymmetrical fashion. My goal is to help you realign your posture back towards an easy equality between the right and left sides, and the back and front of the body. Ultimately, whether using deep tissue techniques, movement therapies, or energy balancing, I work to facilitate your release into free and easy movement.

After the table work is completed, we'll look at how the session has affected your posture and at ways that you can improve your movement patterns. We'll also talk about related areas and muscle groups that are part of your tension patterns and make a plan to work on these during the next session. Often I will give you "homework" such as new stretches to incorporate into your daily routines or hydrotherapy treatments you can perform at home to help heal an injury or to simply help relieve stress.
